Mafia vs. Ninja aka Hong men jue e zhe is a 1984 martial arts movie made in Hong Kong, starring the near-legendary Alexander Lou in one of his many memorable movies alongside the African-American Eugene Thomas. Directed by Robert Tai.
Plot Summary
Two sewage workers, Jack Do (
Alexander Lou) and Charlie Wu (
Charlema Hsu) get mixed up in heavy business when their mobster boss gets assassinated by another mobster who wants to control
Shanghai and overflow the streets with
opium, along with the usual mafia-related affairs like
gambling and
prostitution. He is aided by a team of professional assassins, with the most notable two being
gaijin, one a black American fighter called Mr. Jones (
Eugene Thomas), and the other an Italian knife-expert called Mimo (
Silvio Azzolini).
Trivia
- The movie utilizes several poorly made special effects, where wiring and other equipment is clearly visible, which along with the generally poor acting and editing leaves quite a comedic result.
