"The College Try" is the 73rd episode of the FOX television series, The O.C.. The episode was written by J. J. Philbin and was directed by Tony Wharmby. It originally aired on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. on FOX. Beautiful, troubled young Californians go to freshman orientation at their prestigious future college homes, Brown and the University of California at Berkeley.

Plot

Graduation is just weeks away and Ryan, Seth, Summer, and Marissa leave Newport to attend their respective pre-freshmen orientations at Berkeley and Brown. Yes, somewhat surprisingly, Marissa attends.

As Kirsten is saying goodbye to Ryan and Seth at the airport, she sees somebody familiar going down the escalator - Theresa. And she's greeting a woman standing by the escalator, who is holding a toddler that looks about 2 years old. Daniel (as we find out his name is later on) has brown hair, suspiciously like Ryan's. Theresa promptly lifts the toddler from the woman's arms and kisses him. Maybe Theresa lied about the miscarriage after all? Ryan goes to see Theresa and we find out that Daniel is not Ryan's son.

Seth is surprised by who he sees at Brown - his ex-girlfriend Anna. Later, Sandy and Kirsten attend a hospital benefit where Kirsten returns to an old habit.
