Coherent control

Coherent control

Coherent control is a quantum mechanical based method for controlling dynamical processes with light, employing quantum interference phenomena which are controlled by shaping the phase of laser pulses.

Using this method it is already possible to control many processes, such as the direction of motion of electrons in semiconductors, the breaking of chemical bonds, the absorption of light and the characterization of ultrashort pulses.
