Colourless, flammable, toxic gas (H2CdoublehorzbondCHCl), belonging to the family of organic compounds of halogens. It is produced in very large quantities and used principally to make PVC, as well as in other syntheses and in adhesives. Prolonged exposure to vinyl chloride is linked to several kinds of cancer.
