Cherished is the fourteenth studio album by American singer-actress Cher released on September 1977 by Warner Bros. This album, like other several predecessors, was a commercial failure, failed to chart and has sold less than 500,000 copies worldwide.
Though "Pirate" was a small hit, it only reached #93 in Billboard. There is also a single released of "War Paint and Soft Feathers", but didn't chart. In these years, Cher's voice was changing constantly. On "Cherished" she sound very low, and for the fan she doesn't sing really good in these songs. The style of the record recalls his old successes as Dark Lady and Half Breed.
"Cherished" is also Cher's first album without her name on the cover and it's never been released on CD, the only CD in circulation aren't official. In interviews Cher said that she never enjoyed making this album. She only made it because of the contract deal with Warner.
The song "Pirate" was released as a bonus track on some edition of the "I'd Rather Believe In You" album, being track number one. Moreover in the Australian release of this album is entitled "Images". The title is a pun on Cher's name.
