The Strangers (16, general release) HHIIITechnically proficient but vacuous in the extreme, The Strangers is a glib and ultimately rather nasty little horror film whose visual style is unaccompanied by substance of any kind. Indeed, aside from writer/ director Bryan Bertino's modest knack for making you jump, the film adds nothing to an oversubscribed genre, and cannibalises any number of slasher pictures in an attempt to keep itself going.
