Iberis of the family Cruciferae (
mustard family), low-growing plants of the Old World. A number of half-hardy annuals and evergreen perennials are cultivated—chiefly in borders and rock gardens—for the flat-topped or elongated clusters of flowers of various colors. Candytufts are classified in the division
Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Capparales, family Cruciferae.
