The Byrds rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr The Byrds were another influential rock group formed in 1964. The group comprised of David Crosby(later of Crosby, Stills, & Nash), Michael and Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, and Roger McGuinn. Roger McGuinn gave the group a distinctive sound with his 12 string Rickenbaker guitar prompting the "jingle jangle" sound associated with the Byrds. They were influenced by folk singer Bob Dylan. This influence in some of their songs prompted Billboard to come up with a new category titled Folk Rock. However, according to the liner notes of their Greatest Hits Albumn, the group resented the classification. Their musical evolution prompted more changes in labeling with songs like Mr. Spaceman and 5-D putting them into a space rock category. Familiar hits like Mr. Tambourine Man, Turn! Turn! Turn!(To Everything THere Is A Season), Eight Miles High earned their noteability, but these are just part of a vast ensemble of great music.
