Bubalus is a genus of bovines, the English name of which is buffalo. Species that belong to this genus are:

• Wild Asian Water Buffalo, Bubalus bubalis (arnee)

• Tamaraw, Bubalus mindorensis
• Subgenus Anoa
• Lowland Anoa, Bubalus depressicornis
• Mountain Anoa, Bubalus quarlesi

Some zoologists split the Water Buffalo into two or three species, the Domestic Asian Water Buffalo, the Philippines Carabao and the Wild Asian Water Buffalo, a rare endangered species which is the domestic buffalo's ancestor.

Dwarf Buffalo

The Tamaraw, Anoa and extinct Bubalus cebuensis are all island dwarf species of Bubalus.
