Saint-Bris-le-Vineux

Saint-Bris-le-Vineux is a small, picturesque village in Burgundy, France. It has quite a small population and many of its residents are wine-growers. The village itself is quite near to the larger town of Auxerre. The village is a commune of the Yonne département (89).

Twin Towns

The village is twinned with the town of Schoden, in Germany and has been for quite a number of years.

On the 12 November 2005, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux became officially twinned with a village of around the same size in Lancashire, UK called Wrea Green. A delegation of people came from Wrea Green in November 2005 to sign the twinning agreement, but the first 'exchange' came over Easter 2006, when 43 St-Bris residents visited Britain to familiarise themselves with their new, second, twin town.

On the 27th July 2007, the first large group of Wrea Green villagers made a return trip to France for three days too. This was the first trip open to any Wrea Green resident (as the November 2005 trip was mainly to sign the Twinning Agreement) and many of the community went. It was hailed a success by twinning committees in both villages and plans are already being made for the next exchange next year, when St Bris residents will come to Wrea Green.
