Big Horn Mountain
, or He Sha
, is located in the Pine Ridge escarpment
of the U.S. state
. Located in Banner County
, it is the third-highest peak in the state. The peak was named for the Bighorn Sheep
that once roamed its flanks, and were reintroduced in the 1970s.
Located 9.2 miles east of Harrisburg, many local people have carved their names at the top of the peak, dating to at least 1887.
