BAILA Society (BASo) is a professional salsa dance company based in New York City and directed by Daniel Enskat and Ahtoy WonPat-Borja. Dancing salsa "On 2, New York Style", BASo performs salsa choreographies worldwide, offers live classes in New York City, and operates one of the largest online salsa instructional databases in the world.
BASo was created in 2006 with the objective of bringing the dance, music, and art of salsa to a sophisticated audience worldwide. BASo has created advanced dance choreographies for salsa hits like “Cuando Te Vea” by the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, “Nunca Contigo” by Eddie Palmieri, and “Volando Entre Tus Brazos” by Marc Anthony. These original choreographies encompass a significant number of “signature” moves developed by Daniel Enskat and Ahtoy WonPat-Borja.
BASo routinely performs in New York City and other parts of the United States, and has also conducted performances and/or workshops in Bali, China, France, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. In addition to performing salsa choreographies, BASo offers private and group salsa instruction, organizes travel packages to exotic destinations for salsa-intensive vacations, and stages networking events. BASo has also offered its services to various charitable and philanthropic organizations, such as by performing a salsa choreography at a fundraising event for the National Institute for People with Disabilities Network (YAI) in New York City on May 1, 2008.
BASo also maintains an online database where it publishes its research on salsa music and dance, as well as its history.
