deci- (symbol d) is a prefix in the SI system of units denoting a factor of 10−1 (1/10).
Adopted in 1795, the prefix comes from the Latin decimus, meaning tenth. Its most frequent use is in the decibel, used to measure sound intensity (relative to a reference) and many other ratios.
