In science, accretion is a process in which the size of something gradually increases by steady addition of smaller parts. This term is used with specific meanings in several scientific fields:- Accretion (astrophysics)
- Accretion (atmosphere) in meteorology, is the process by which water vapor in clouds forms water droplets around nucleation sites.
- Accretion (geology) is an increase in size of a tectonic plate by addition of material along a convergent boundary.
