Isaac Ziegler House

The Isaac Ziegler House was a historic home once located at 712 North 4th Street in Knoxville, Tennessee. A Barber House, designed by George F. Barber & Company of Knoxville, Tennessee, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

George Franklin Barber began publishing his homes in inexpensive, illustrated catalogs. He worked between 1887 and 1913, with a staff of approximately 50. Mr. Barber warned residents of the horrors of a house not designed by a trained architect, noting that Geo. F. Barber & Co. was "between you and a hideous monstrosity". Barber houses were primarily constructed in the United States, but were also found in foreign countries.

This specific home was constructed in 1892 in the Queen Anne-Romanesque style. Demographic changes in Knoxville's inner city neighborhoods and the construction of the Magnolia Expressway across the street from the house contributed to the neglect and deterioration of the once impressive house. It was finally demolished by the city.
