Walter Percy

Chrysler, Walter Percy, 1875-1940, American industrialist, founder of the Chrysler Corp., b. Wamego, Kans. He began as a machinist's apprentice and rose within the industry to become vice president in charge of operations at General Motors in 1919. In 1920 he undertook the reorganization of the Willys Overland and Maxwell companies. In 1924 he brought out the first Chrysler car and within a short time he made the company one of the largest automobile manufacturers.
Lieutenant-Colonel Walter Percy Gardiner MC (b. 12 December 1914 Norfolk, England) was the father of Princess Muna al-Hussein, and maternal grandfather of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Lt.Col Gardiner was married in 1938 to Doris Elizabeth Sutton (1916 - died by 1994); their daughter, Antoinette Avril Gardiner, became Princess Muna al-Hussein in 1961 as the second wife of King Hussein of Jordan.

He was last known to be living in Jordan in 1999.

Doris Elizabeth Sutton is claimed by one website[ to have illegitimate descent from Maltese nobility; the father of her maternal grandmother, (Gertrude) Ruth Green, being unknown. However, that website provides no evidence to support its claims within the site, or subsequently on genealogical forums.
