WTSO (1070 AM kHz) is a radio station in the Madison, Wisconsin area. The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications and airs a sports radio format featuring programming from ESPN Radio. The station identifies itself as "Madison's ESPN Radio 1070" (pronunced on-air as "Ten-Seven-O"). Previous formats in the station's history have included country music, talk radio, and adult standards.
Though WTSO's daily schedule relies heavily on ESPN Radio programming, the station does feature local afternoon programming, including "On Wisconsin w/ Brian Posick" (2-3PM), which concentrates on Wisconsin sports, and "Heller & Murphy" (3-6PM), a general sports talk program hosted by Mike Heller and Owen Murphy. WTSO was the original Madison home of Jim Rome's national radio show, a program that now airs on WTLX (after an aborted format flip on WXXM that would have seen Rome's show move to that station).
WTSO's live sports coverage includes broadcasts of Milwaukee Bucks basketball and NASCAR events from MRN Radio and PRN Radio, as well as local high school events, including championships in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. WTSO also airs live broadcasts of Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Wisconsin Badgers athletics should those events conflict with the schedule of their normal home, sister station WIBA-AM.
