Vaishnavi (deity)

Vaishnavi (sanskrit, feminine form of Vaishnava) is a legendary figure in the Hindu tradition. According to the legend, she was an incarnation of the Divine Mother, or Shakti. Vaishno Devi is a temple dedicated to her in Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most-visited shrines in India. For more information, see Vaishno Devi.

Vaishnavi is also a Matrika goddess, considered a shakti of Vishnu. Vaishnavi (or Vyshnavi) is also a given name, in the Hindu tradition of naming children after spiritual personalities.
