It began when Roderick McMahon, known as "Jess", started promoting wrestling shows in 1925. When he died in 1954, his son, Vincent J. McMahon, took over the business. Vincent J. had two wives, Vickie and Juanita, with the former still living today. When Vincent J. died in 1984, his son from his first marriage, Vincent K. McMahon, took over the business and he still runs it with his wife, Linda McMahon, today.

Vince and Linda's children are Shane and Stephanie. Shane is married to the former Marissa Mazzola and Stephanie is married to Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H.

Stephanie and Triple H have two daughters named Aurora Rose Levesque and Murphy Claire Levesque. Shane and Marissa have two sons, Declan James McMahon and Keynon Jesse McMahon.
