The Berliet VXB-170 is a four wheeled armoured vehicle produced by Berliet until Berliet was merged with Saviem to form Renault Trucks (now Renault Trucks Defense ).

Versions

There were originally three versions, Internal Security, Reconnaissance and Patrol, and light combat. The VXB was produced by Berliet and Saviem, the Berliet version with hydrojets.

Operators

• - 150 VXB's formerly in service with the mobile units of the French Gendarmerie. Called the VBRG (Véhicule Blindé de Reconnaissance de la Gendarmerie, "Gendarmerie reconnaissance armoured vehicle") for riot control. This version was equipped with a water cannon and a bulldozer blade. They are being replaced by the VAB version of the VBRG.
