Upinder Singh

Upinder Singh is one of three daughters of Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh. She is a professor in the history department at the University of Delhi.

Books and Controversies

She has so far written 4 books and published in several peer-reviewed journals.

On February 25th 2008, right wing activists demonstrated in the University of Delhi campus, in protest of an essay by A.K. Ramanujan, titled "Three hundred Ramayanas". The activists felt the essay was offensive, and alleged that Upinder Singh was responsible for its inclusion in a list of recommended reading for the B A programme in history. The University categorically denied the allegation and stated the inclusion of the text was not by Professor Singh
