Al-Ittihad (Tripoli)

Al Ittihad of Libya (الاتحاد الليبي) is a Libyan football club based in Bab Ben Geshier -Tripoli, Libya. They have won the Libyan Premier League fourteen times, the Libyan Cup five times and the Libyan SuperCup seven times. They are the current league champions (Libyan Premier League) as of the end of the 2007/08 season.

Al Ittihad become the first Libyan Club qualifiers for the CAF Champions League Semi-Finals phase of the 11-year competition.

History

Al-Ittihad Club was founded on Saturday July 29, 1944 after a merger between two clubs Al Nahda & Al Shabab, the club was named by both Mohamed Al-Krewi (محمد الكريو) who was also the first president of Al-Ittihad club and by Mahmud Al-Jogia.
