She won the U.S. Open women's singles six times (1975–78, 1980, 1982) and repeatedly won the Wimbledon singles (1974, 1976, 1981), the French Open singles (1974, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1985, 1986), and the Australian Open singles (1982, 1984), for a total of 18 grand-slam h1s. She retired in 1989.
