ThinkQuest is a protected, online learning platform that enables teachers to integrate learning projects into their classroom curricula and students to develop 21st century skills.
It includes:
- ThinkQuest Projects (formerly Think.com): A project environment where teachers and students engage in collaborative learning
- ThinkQuest Competition: A competition space for students to participate in technology contests
- ThinkQuest Library: The world's largest online repository of student-developed learning projects, visited by millions of web learners each month
- Professional development for teachers
ThinkQuest is offered as a free service to K-12 schools globally by the Oracle Education Foundation, an independent, charitable, 501(c)(3) organization funded by Oracle Corporation.
ThinkQuest supports 397,000 students in 60 countries.
History
ThinkQuest was originally founded by Allan H. Weis in 1995 through his company Advanced Network and Services, Inc. (ANS).
In 2002, ANS granted the program to the Oracle Education Foundation
In 2008, OEF merged ThinkQuest with its Think.com online learning community to create a single program under the ThinkQuest brand.
