) is one of the giants of Tamil fiction.He, along with Laa.Sa. Ramamirutham
is the considered as the backbone of modern Indian Tamil fiction.
Works of ThiJaa
He has written about hundred short stories and a dozen "novels". His "MogamuL" (Thorn of Desire), has been hailed as among the best Indian fictional works. His other novels "Amma Vandha" and "Marappasu" have been translated into English as "Sins of Appu's Mother" and "Wooden Cow" respectively. His short stories are artistic and subtle in nature and he won the Sahitya Akademi award
for his short story collectin Sakthi vaidhiyam. Some of his other great works were Malar Manjam, Uyirthen and Semparuthy.
