Biography
Amy Kendra O'Neill was born to Tom O'Neill and his wife Ginny, she has quoted she had a "fantastic childhood". She was the fourth child in the family: Hugh, Barry, Katie, Amy, Casey. She is the niece of Hugh O'Neill, Esq, former Deputy Chief Counsel to The Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman. She first debut was as Young Ellen Harper in
Mama's Family. After that, she continued her
acting in Television Series such as
Matt Houston,
Night Court,
The Twilight Zone, and
The Young and the Restless. Then she landed her big role in the 1989 comedy hit
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and it's 1992
sequel Honey, I Blew Up the Kid as Amy Szalinski, the wacky inventor's beautiful daughter who gets shrunk in the backyard with her brother and the neighbor's boys. Before
Honey, I Blew Up the Kid became a sequel to the original, it was just an independent film with characters to the original and so Amy's character didn't exist. When the script changed to the Szalinski family, there was no room for a big female role (besides the babysitter), so that's why her on-screen time was short. She continued acting in Television Movies until after
White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II, she appeared in series and then post-poned the acting business. Since that she had just one appearance on TV again: In the 2005 made documentary
The 100 Greatest Family Movies she and her
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids co-star
Thomas Wilson Brown were interviewed about the movie.
She now lives in Hollywood, Alabama and is 1/3 of the circus trio "Girls on Stilts".
