Jorge Maria O'Neill

Eng. Jorge Maria O'Neill (Lisbon, Encarnação, November 7, 1908Lisbon, December 15, 1988) was the head of one of the Irish Royal Families, the Clanaboy O'Neill dynasty, which has resided in Portugal since the 18th century. He was officially recognized by the heraldic societies throughout Europe as titular Prince and Count of Clanaboy, but has refused to use the title, preferring instead the style O'Neill of Clannaboy. He was the first son of the previous head Hugo José Jorge O'Neill and wife Dona Júlia Margarida Catarina de Serpa Pimentel de Sousa Coutinho, herself a descendant of the Dukes of Braganza and King John I of Portugal. He was also the Representative of the title of Viscount of Santa Mónica, in Portugal.

Career

He was an Electronic Engineer by the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, etc. His Chiefacy of the O'Neill family was recognized by the Republic of Ireland's State.

Marriage

He married in Cascais, on December 23, 1937 to Josefina Luísa Roquette Ricciardi (Lisbon, Camões, April 5, 1917Lisbon, Alcântara, April 11, 2004), daughter of Luís Rafael Feliciano da Conceição Ricciardi (Sintra, December 26, 1887Cascais, October 20, 1947), paternal descendant of a Noble Italian Family from Aversa, and wife (m. Lisbon, Santos-o-Velho, December 27, 1913) Julieta Garin Holtreman Roquette (Lisbon, Santa Isabel, October 29, 1886Cascais, January 31, 1968), of French descent, grand-niece of the 1st Baron of Salvaterra de Magos and maternal granddaughter through Representation of Alfredo Augusto das Neves Holtreman, 1st Viscount of Alvalade and Founder of Sporting Clube de Portugal (often erroneously known as "Sporting Lisbon"), a descendant of a Noble Family from the Bishopric of Liège, and had issue, five children.
