TEAR Fund NZ is the New Zealand group of
The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund, an organisation formed in Britain in the 1950s in response to African famine. It later became a permanent organisation. The New Zealand group was formed in 1975.
TEAR Fund NZ partners with local Christian organisations and churches in developing countries who work directly with the poorest people, helping them find their own solutions, cutting out the middleman and reducing costs. Activities include child sponsorship (including Christian evangalism), microenterprise, community development projects and disaster relief.
Funding
In
NZ, TEAR Fund receives most of its funding from Christians. It has an extensive network of volunteers who raise support. This is most likely because they only advertise in Christian papers and newsletters.
