Sumerpur

Sumerpur (सुमेरपुर) is a town at arm's length distance from Bharunda Village in Pali District of Rajasthan state in India.The town is headquarters of the Sumerpur tehsils. There are many villages in the tehsil, out of which two are municipality Takhatgarh and Sumerpur itself.

Sumerpur lies north of the Jawai river and is an important agriculture mandi of Pali, Sirohi and Jalore districts. It is one of the biggest markets for mustard seed. Ghee making is a cottage industry of the town. Other major industries of Sumerpur includes Iron and Wood works. Sumerpur is famous in nearby places and Rajasthan for its ornamental iron works which produces articles like iron furnitures, gates and railings. Almost all the work is organised in the form of small scale industries. Jawai Dam is situated at about 10 km from the town. Bamnera and Bharunda village come under this tehsil. Bamnera is approx. 16 km. away from Sumerpur.

As of 2001 India census, Sumerpur had a population of 31,459. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sumerpur has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 47%. In Sumerpur, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. In Sumerpur there are lots of graduates in the mere population of 32000, better ratio of computer per capita,good count of engg. working in MNC.

Place of tyre care invention

Sumerpur is the World's First Tyre Care Innovation Test & Trial Place since 1999. The invention titled as 'Fibre Touch Tyre Inflation System' (Mehta's FTTIS Technology) is made and designed by Sampat Raj Mehta and Kalpna Mehta permanent resident of Sumerpur. The said innovation is accepted by the 'The International Bureau of WIPO in Geneva, Switzerland, and a patent application in India in process. The invention is awarded by the District Collector, Pali on 15th August, 2007. Also Rating is issued by the ARAI, Pune through National Innovation Foundation, Ahemdabad in year 2004 also appreciated by CIIE of IIM, Ahemdabad and GIAN (North), Jaipur in year 2003.
