Company history in brief

SnagAJob.com is headquartered in Richmond, VA and was founded in 1999 by Shawn Boyer, who serves as president and CEO of the company.

In the summer of 2006, SnagAJob.com received $9 million in financing from Adams Street Partners, Baird Venture Partners and C&B Capital. The company is using the funding to expand all aspects of its operation.

In 2007, SnagAJob.com acquired naming rights for the concert pavilion at Innsbrook Afterhours, Central Virginia’s longest running mid-week concert series. It is now called SnagAJob.com Pavilion. Also in 2007, SnagAJob.com was awarded the IMPACT Award by The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes a company's growth, culture and community impact. The company was also named to Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for Virginia and won the Greater Richmond Technology Council's Emerging Company Award.

At the U.S. Small Business Administration's celebration of National Small Business Week 2008 on April 22, 2008, Shawn Boyer was selected as the National Small Business Person of the Year. At the awards ceremony, SBA Administrator Steve Preston said, "Shawn Boyer is a perfect example of the creativity and inspiration it takes to become a highly successful entrepreneur in America today. He identified an unmet need and filled it, and today, barely eight years later, his company, SnagAJob.com, has become a hugely successful site for posting and finding hourly and part-time jobs, connecting millions of registered job seekers with active job postings."

In June of 2008, the company launched it's own collection of free e-cards designed for America's workforce called Afterthoughts. Users can customize the cards themselves, or use a text generator to insert funny phrases and send them to friends and coworkers.

On June 23, 2008, SnagAJob.com was named one of the 50 Best Small Companies to Work For in America by the Great Place to Work Institute at the Society for Human Resource Management's Conference and Exposition. The annual list ranks the top 25 small and top 25 medium-sized companies in the United States that can boast extreme employee satisfaction and the highest levels of trust between employees and management. SnagAJob.com was ranked in the top three on the list of the 25 Best Small Companies to Work For list.
