Shahid Shiroudi Stadium

The Shahid Shiroudi Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Tehran, Iran. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium is able to seat 30,000 people and was opened in 1942. It was called Amjadieh Stadium until the Iranian Revolution.

The stadium was host to the AFC Youth Championship 2000.

History

Naming

The stadium was named after Shahid Ali Akbar Shiroudi, an immensely patriotic jet fighter pilot who died in the Iran–Iraq War.
