SBS Transit Service 143

SBS Transit Service 143 is a pioneer trunk service in Singapore. It plys between Toa Payoh Bus Interchange and Jurong East Bus Interchange. This service was the second service to use Double-Decker Air Conditioned buses in 1993. It had a total of 11 units. (SBS9010M - SBS9021G) This service has more than 20 doubledeckers in its fleet due to it being a high cashcow service.

History

• 1976: Completion of the former Jurong Bus Terminal at Penjuru Road. SBS Service 143 was introduced from Jurong Bus Terminal - Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.
• 1995: Service 143 was re-routed to Teban Garden Bus Terminal. 4 Bus Stops was eventually skipped.
• 1999: Service 143 re-routed to Toa Payoh Temp Bus Interchange due to the construction of HDB Hub and the air-conditioned Bus Interchange. Skipped 1 Bus Stop.
• 2001: Service 143 re-routed to Jurong East Bus Interchange along with 78, 79, 97, 198, and other services. Teban routes were cut off and Jurong Town Hall route was added.
• 2002: Service 143 route between West Coast Road and Jurong Town Hall Road Junction was changed to Pandan Gardens and Jurong Town Hall Road.
• 2004: Service 143 has an additional route terminating at Teban Gardens after 2330 hours. The route was amended too. For now, Jurong East bound buses enter Pandan Garden first; than enter Teban Gardens, which after it continue towards Jurong East Bus Interchange along Jurong Town Hall Road.
• 2007: Service 143 became a Wheelchair-Accessible Bus (WAB) service on 17th December 2007.
