The
Secwepemc Cultural Education Society (SCES) is a non-profit organization in
Kamloops,
British Columbia,
Canada governed by representatives from thirteen bands of the
Secwepemc Nation and a representative from the
Secwepemc Elders Council. The society was founded on
September 22,
1983 to preserve and promote the language, culture and history of the
Secwepemc people. In addition to curriculum development and other programs, the society operates the
Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park in Kamloops.
Vision Statement
The vision statement of the Secwsecwepemc is Met’eltwécw-kt Es Knucwetwécw-kt –
“Everyone come together to help one another.”
Mission Statement
The Secwépemc mission is to work in unity to have a living, thriving culture and language for spiritual balance, which sustains and honours our heritage. SCES does this through a variety of unique and innovative programs, services and institutions, which incorporate Secwepemc traditional knowledge, and affirms our spiritual and cultural values.
