William P.D. Schlich

Sir William Philipp Daniel Schlich (February 28, 1840 - September 28, 1925) was an eminent British forester, German-born and educated, professor of forestry at the Royal Indian Engineering College at Coopers Hill (moving the college to Oxford in 1905), who was mentored by Dietrich Brandis and became inspector general of Forests for India. Schlich was a colleague and mentor of Gifford Pinchot and author of the five-volume Manual of Forestry (1889-96).
