Sarah O'Flaherty

Sarah O'Flaherty, known as Sarah O' is an Irish television presenter who has been on Irish, English and Scottish Television shows and is now based in Scotland.

Personal life

O'Flaherty grew up in Dublin, Ireland with her parents TJ and Bernie plus 3 siblings. She was a member of Girl Guides where she learned "good team player, listen to and help others" and put her in good stead for the workplace. She married Colum Campoin but they split in 2004 and she is now romantically linked to Alan Baxter who she met during an interview for Radio Clyde. Alan Baxter is the son of the late Scotland football hero Jim Baxter.

Early career

She began her career as a co-presenter of The Grip enabling her to travel the world covering various sporting events and allowing her participate in many extreme sports such as skydiving and bungy jumping. This was followed by a stint in London as the host of the UK Pepsi Chart Show which gave us the opportunity to travel to Sydney, Australia for the 2000 Olympics.

Scotsport

O'Flaherty was signed to co-present Scotland Television's (STV) football show Scotsport, along with Jim Delahunt and Julyan Sinclair. The aim was to try and entice new and younger views to the flagship sport show but viewers tuned out and the presenters were criticised for their apparent lack of football knowledge. Over 7000 fans signed an online petition calling for O'Flaherty and Sinclair's dismissal however with a view base of over 250,000 this is a very small proportion. After two years the pair's contract was not renewed in 2006.

On the Radio and in the Paper

Since 2003 O'Flaherty has been working for Radio Clyde as their news, show business and sports reporter as well as DJ'ing on Saturday nights with her own music show. She also writes a weekly Diary column for Evening Times.
