Santa Gertrudis cattle, breed of beef cattle derived from crosses between Shorthorn cows (see
Shorthorn cattle) and Brahman bulls (see
Brahman cattle); the breed was developed by Robert J. Kleberg, Jr., of the
King Ranch in S Texas, in the early 1900s. The breed has been widely distributed in the United States, particularly in the South, and has been extensively exported.
