On August 1st, 1950, SMA Istimewa became SMAK I under the BPK Jabar Foundation. On March 1989, BPK Jabar KPS Jakarta changed its name to BPK PENABUR KPS Jakarta.

In the same year, after the completion of its new building in 4 Tanjung Duren Raya Road, SMAK I was moved to the new building, its current location. Its previous location at Pintu Air 11 Road was to be used by SMAK II, previously an afternoon school in the same location.

In 1994, in accordance to the new Indonesian Educational Curriculum, SMAK I was renamed again as SMUK 1 (Christian High School 1).
