Richard Bett holds a joint appointment in
Philosophy and
Classics at
the Johns Hopkins University. He received his BA from
Oxford University and his PhD from
UC Berkeley. He spent 1994-5 as a Fellow at the
Center for Hellenic Studies, Washington, DC. From January 2000 to June 2001 he was Acting Executive Director of the
American Philosophical Association, and he is currently Secretary-Treasurer of its Eastern Division.
Professor Bett specializes in ancient Greek philosophy, and has strong interests in ancient and modern ethics and epistemology, as well as Nietzsche.
