The
Rauracian Republic was a state that included parts of modern
France and
Switzerland around the
Jura mountains. It lasted just a few months, in the years
1792 and
1793, being annexed by the
French First Republic after that brief existence. The territory was divided between France and the
Canton of Berne in
1815. Its name was taken from an ancient tribe of the area, the
Rauraci, who were related to the
Helvetii.
