Afghanistan Television started during the period of President Mohammad Daud in 1353 (1974 CE). After the completion of feasibility study under the Grant Aid of the Government of Japan construction work of the studio and transmitter buildings started and finished by the year 1357 (1974 CE). Officially this center was put into operation in 1361 (on August 1978).
