Rhode Island Route 99

Route 99 is a numbered State Highway running 2.9 miles in Rhode Island.

Route

Route 99 takes the following route through the State:

• Lincoln: 2.4 miles; Route 146 to Cumberland town line
• Woonsocket Industrial Highway
• Cumberland: 0.4 miles; Lincoln town line to Woonsocket city line
• Woonsocket Industrial Highway
• Woonsocket: 0.1 miles: Cumberland town line to Route 122
• Woonsocket Industrial Highway

History

Originally, Route 99 was planned to continue north into Bellingham, Massachusetts paralleling Route 126, ending at Interstate 495; the interchange at I-495 would have been shared with a relocation of Route 109 (called Route 209 in some plans) continuing towards Boston.

Notes

The main purpose of Route 99 is to provide freeway access to Woonsocket via Route 146 and Interstate 295. Plans to extend Route 99 north to Route 114 have been added to RIDOT's long-range planning study.
