REELRADIO is an online virtual museum of on-demand streamed aircheck recordings of the Top 40 era.

The site is operated by REELRADIO, Inc., a California non-profit corporation. The contributed exhibits represent the efforts of hundreds of supporters. The site was established on February 12, 1996 by Richard W. Irwin (Uncle Ricky), and the organization was formally incorporated in Sacramento on March 23, 2000 with assistance from Media Preservation Foundation and many generous donations.

On February 12, 2006, the tenth birthday of the REELRADIO Repository site, with nearly 1700 exhibits online, the REELRADIO Board of Directors announced a minimum contribution of $12 (US) for an annual subscription. The REELRADIO Tenth Birthday Special is available with no registration as an example of the variety and quality of content available on the REELRADIO site to registered supporters.

The first website to feature online streaming airchecks articles about REELRADIO were published in Radio World magazine on March 20, 1996 and Radio & Records on September 13, 1996. Uncle Ricky's Reel Top 40 Radio Repository was one of five Radio category nominees for the 1998 Webby Awards, and an article titled Radio Patter From The Past: Vintage D.J's Rock On was published on The New York Times on May 9, 2002.

The repository is home to tribute sites to famed Los Angeles disc jockeys Robert W. Morgan and The Real Don Steele.

The REELRADIO, Inc. organization exists:

  1. To operate a non-profit organization to develop and maintain an Internet resource dedicated to preserving the history of radio, particularly those forms of popular music radio following the advent of television;
  2. To acquire, restore and catalogue recordings, pictures and historical information relating to the history of radio;
  3. To provide affordable access to archives of radio history through public computer networks.
