Picton Road, New South Wales

Picton Road, New South Wales

Picton Road is a New South Wales highway linking Picton and Wollongong. The road is of good standard with plenty of overtaking lanes and provide an important link between Hume and Southern freeways. It also links the coalmines in Picton to the steelworks in Wollongong. Consequently, the truck traffic is heavy. From Picton, this highway runs in the southeastern direction, crosses the Hume Highway and continues through thickly forested hilly terrain (passing through Sydney's water catchment area) until it meets the Mount Ousley Road (Southern Freeway) which leads to Wollongong.

Sometimes, this road is quite notorious of motorists disobeying the road, resulting in some fatalities.
