Other planned or recently active Indycar teams

  • Cahill Racing - Announced plans to run in 2007 with driver Milka Duno. Abruptly canceled press conference where official announcement was to be made and did not enter a race in 2007.
  • Chastain Motorsports - Competed in the 2007 Indy 500 but has not entered the 2008 race.
  • Cheever Racing - Long time IndyCar Series team has not raced since Kansas race in 2006. Some equipment was sold to Vision Racing.
  • D. B. Mann Motorsports - Former Indy 500 owner Dave Mann and Bowes Seal Fast owner Fred Azbell, Jr. announced they were looking to form a team for the 2008 IndyCar season. Nothing has been seen or heard from this team since.
  • Fernandez Racing - Competed from 2003 to 2006, both drivers and sponsors left after 2006 season. Most IndyCar equipment was sold to Panther, Beck, and Schmidt.
  • Kingdom Racing - New team announced by George Del Canto, intended to race in 2008. Announced they had signed Davey Hamilton as their driver for the Indy 500, and ended up sponsoring Hamilton's Vision Racing entry. Kingdom is now planning its debut as a standalone team in 2009.
  • Luyendyk Racing - Competed in 2006 Indy 500, has not entered a car since.
  • SAMAX Motorsport - Ran a partial season schedule for Milka Duno in 2007 but has not entered a race in 2008.
  • Sam Schmidt Motorsports - Previously fielded its own entry in the Indy 500, assisted Rubicon Race Team in 2008.
  • Team Leader Motorsports - Unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the the 2007 Indy 500 and has not entered the 2008 race.
  • Walker Racing - former Champ Car team indicated that they would race in the IndyCar Series in 2008 and later announced that they would not. They will assist Vision Racing in fielding Paul Tracy's entry in the Grand Prix of Edmonton.
  • Forsythe Racing - Announced that they were close to completing a deal to compete full time in the IndyCar Series in 2009.
