Pennine FM

Pennine FM (formerly 107.9 Home FM) is an Independent Local Radio station based at Lockwood Park in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England.

Background

It was originally launched as "Huddersfield FM" by the Minster Sound Radio Group PLC in October 1999.

The station was bought by Radio Investments Limited and GWR in November 1999, then completely by Radio Investments (now The Local Radio Company) in December 2000. Home 107.9 recently rebranded and ripped off The Pulse's original name Pennine FM, This was due to poor RAJAR results of 0.2% in the TSA broadcast area Current presenters at the station include John Harding (Radio), Paul Clark and Tony Collins, although this is expected to change as the station has now been sold by TLRC to Mr. Harding

Technical

The signal is relatively low power (100w vertical polorization, 100w horizontal polorization) and is broadcast from a transmitter at a site owned by Yorkshire Electricity Distribution PLC (YEDL) at Ainley Top, near the M62. The signal power is low to protect the aircraft communication band. The RDS name is PENNINE, the station does not broadcast RDS text.

Branding

In January 2007, Home 107.9 started using a new jingle package that was produced by The Bespoke Music Company, as did many other stations owned by The Local Radio Company. To complement the new jingles, the station's strap line was changed from "music:fun:life" to "from Huddersfield with West Yorkshire's greatest hits." Since the stations name change another batch of idents has been produced by TM Jones which incorporate "The New Pennine FM" moniker
