This is a listing of characters who appear in only one of the numerous aspects of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, including the original manga, its two anime adaptations (the 1998 Toei anime and the 2000 Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime, known internationally simply as Yu-Gi-Oh!), and assorted movies and video games.

Japanese names in Western order (surname after the given name) go first, with the English anime name, if applicable, second.

First series anime only characters

Shotaro Akaboshi

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Shotaro Akaboshi (赤星 昇太郎 Akaboshi Shōtarō) is a collector obsessed with watches that steals Miho's watch. Dark Yugi comes to get it back; he punishes Shotaro by making him think he is becoming a human watch. Though not explicitly stated, it appears that he killed himself when he smashed his watch collection in a mad panic.

Ryuichi Fuha

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Ryuichi Fuha (不破 龍一 Fuha Ryūichi) is the second game master, who has good luck with a television game show. Fuha pushes around Yugi and his friends until Yugi challenges him to a shadow game involving a game show. Ryuichi ends up losing. After losing, Ryuichi no longer has good luck on the TV game show and loses his champion title. Later, during the final Death-T episode, Ailean Rao and Ryuichi are paired against Miho and Jonouchi. Jonouchi and Ailean have the battle suits while Miho and Ryuichi are at the controls. Jonouchi and Miho defeat Ailean and Ryuichi.

Dr. Kekeru Goyu

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Dr. Kekeru Goyu (豪遊 カケル Gōyū Kekeru) is a doctor who cares more about golf than his patients. He constantly tries to invite Nurse Miyuki to go with him, but when she refuses, he fires her. Jonouchi (who had feelings for Miyuki) threatens to testify against him, until Goyu threatens to remove Shizuka Jonouchi (Serenity Wheeler in the English Duel Monsters anime, and Shizuka Kawai in the original Japanese Duel Monsters anime), Jonouchi's sister, from the hospital. The doctor loses to Dark Yugi in a putt-putt game and goes insane, hallucinating that his deceased patients are attacking him.

Haiyama

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Haiyama (灰山) is a boy who manipulates Kujirada while pretending that the opposite is going on. His hobby is giving people money and then demanding whatever he wants from them; if they do not he whips them mercilessly. Dark Yugi defeats Haiyama in a digital pet duel, and goes insane, thinking that his pet is eating him. Haiyama does not appear in the English anime.

Kageyama sisters

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

The Kageyama sisters are three witches who want to have the three Hecate witch cards. Risa Kageyama (影山 リサ Kageyama Risa) wants to take Yugi's Violet Hecate (バイオレット ヘカテー Vioretto Hekatē) card. After pretending to be Yugi's friend, Risa reveals herself to be one of the sisters. Yugi, with the Millennium Puzzle taken away from him, is forced into a Duel Monsters game with the Kageyama sisters. Yugi is about to lose when Kaiba appears and takes over. Kaiba defeats the Kageyama sisters in Duel Monsters, explaining that he should be the one to defeat Yugi.

In the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime Risa is listed in Austin O'Brien's (Axel Brodie) database of Domino High School students as Risa Kageyema.

Kaoruko Himekoji

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Kaoruko Himekoji (姫小路 薫子 Himekoji Kaoruko), being supported by the chairman of the student council, tries to win a beauty contest at her school. When she prevents Miho from going onto the final round by ripping her beautiful dress apart and knocking her out with chloroform, Yugi gets angry at her and places a shadow game on her, making her think that she is hideous and old, and publicly humiliating herself.

In the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime she is listed in Austin O'Brien's (Axel Brodie) database of Domino High School students as Kaoruko Himekouji.

Mayumi

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Mayumi is a girl who wants to give a love letter to Jonouchi.

Ailean Rao

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime Ailean Rao (アイリーン・ラオ Airīn Rao), a Canadian-Indian, is the 3rd game master. Seto Kaiba tells Irene, who returns from a Paris fashion show, to play a game against Yugi. Ailean first plays a top football (soccer) player named Hirada (平田) in Rijinhai, a fictional version of chess from India. Heida states that if he wins, Ailean must submit to his will, but if Ailean wins, Heida will lose the most important thing to him. Ailean wins and Heida is seen with an injured leg in a hospital on a television. Ailean lures Yugi and Anzu, who is a big fan of Ailean, to her condominium. Ailean holds Anzu hostage and forces Yugi to play Rijinhai. Ailean tells Yugi that if he loses, he will lose the most important thing to him. Ailean threatens to kill Anzu with a tiger if Yugi loses. Yugi wins and Ailean lets go of Anzu. Ailean acknowledges Yugi as a good player. Later, during the final Death-T episode, Ailean and Ryuichi Fuha are paired against Miho and Jonouchi. Jonouchi and Ailean have the battle suits while Miho and Ryuichi are at the controls. Jonouchi and Miho defeat Ailean and Ryuichi.

Ailean calls Kaiba by his given name, Seto.

Miyuki Sakurai

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Miyuki Sakurai (桜井 美雪 Sakurai Miyuki) is a nurse whom Jonouchi falls in love with but is heartbroken when she leaves to be with her boyfriend after she is fired from her job by Dr. Goyu; Miyuki is taken, causing Jonouchi heartbreak.

Ridley Sheldon

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Count Ridley Sheldon (リドリー・シェルダン伯爵 Ridorī Sherudan Hakushaku), from London in the United Kingdom, is the first game master. Count Sheldon has a collection of dolls that he admires a lot; he even talks to them as if they were real people, suggesting that he may be slightly insane. Sheldon's favorite doll, Fiona, has a blonde doll dressed up in a Victorian Outfit. Count Sheldon disguises one of his dolls as the school nurse. Sheldon defeats Yugi in a Duel Monsters game, taking his Neon Knight as a reward. Later, Seto Kaiba kidnaps Yugi, whom is in the arcade looking for a new game called "KIS", so Yugi could face Count Sheldon again. Dark Yugi defeats Sheldon and placing a shadow game on the loser. Fiona's face is cracked after the duel with Yugi is over.

Student Council Chairman

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

The chairman (大味) is a boy who wants Kaoruko Himekoji to win the student beauty contest. He is competing against fellow student council member Honda, who is pushing for Miho to win.

Tetsu Tasaki

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Tetsu Tasaki, also known as Tetsu the Hedgehog (針ねずみのテツ), is a person who is framed by Jiro (Prisoner 777). Jiro disguises himself as Tetsu and breaks out of prison. While Tetsu also breaks out of prison and commits some robberies, Tetsu is being framed for a variety of crimes that were committed by Jiro. Tetsu has to prove his innocence.

Warashibe

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st series anime

Warashibe (童部 Warashibe) is a student who is infatuated with Miho Nosaka, and is good at Capsule Monster Chess. His infatuation reaches dangerous levels when he poisons Honda, Jonnouch, and Anzu, desiring to be the only center of Miho's affections. After he defeats her in a rigged game of Capsule Monster Chess (Miho received weak monsters, while Warashibe gave himself very strong ones), Yami Yugi defeats him using Miho's monsters, and then traps him in a capsule. Warashibe has a habit of sucking on lollipops.

Rebecca Hawkins

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 2nd series anime (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters)

Rebecca Hawkins (known as Rebecca Hopkins in the Japanese versions) is the granddaughter of a friend of Solomon Muto (Sugoroku Mutou) who believes Mutou stole a card from him. Dueling Muto's grandson Yugi to get it back, Rebecca and Yugi play a duel identical to the one Mutou played with Rebecca's grandfather years ago. After Yugi surrenders, Rebecca's grandfather explains he gave Mutou his card as a gift. Yugi, then hands Rebecca the "Ties of Friendship" card that he won at Duelist Kingdom as a token of his appreciation. Rebecca later returns in the Waking the Dragons arc of the anime (where she develops a crush on Yugi, much to Téa's (Anzu's) dismay) and remains part of the main cast until the end of the KC Grand Championship arc.

In her first duel, Rebecca uses a Shadow Ghoul deck focusing on sending monsters to the Graveyard to power up Shadow Ghoul. In the KC Grand Championship she uses a Life Gain/Fire Princess deck focusing on raising her Life Points with Marie the fallen One, Cure Mermaid, and Guardian Angel Joan while damaging her opponents with her Fire Princess all while summoning powerful dragon monsters.

Noah Kaiba

is Gozaburo Kaiba's biological son. Noah's role is exclusive to the second series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, specifically of the Virtual World story arc.

As the heir to Kaiba Corporation, Noah's father makes him study heavily in the arts and academic subjects, but unlike Seto Kaiba, Noah enjoys it and is eager to please his father. When Noah is approximately ten years old, he is in a car accident and is fatally injured. In the hope of saving his son, Gozaburo Kaiba uploads Noah's mind onto a super computer just before Seto is adopted.

Gozaburo adopts Seto with the intent of using his body as a replacement for Noah, but eventually Gozaburo realizes Noah's intellectual growth has stagnated, and thus decides to make Seto his heir. When Seto took over Kaiba Corporation, Gozaburo, in frustration and defeat, uploads his own mind into Noah's virtual world. Six years later, Noah takes his revenge on Seto. He kidnaps Seto and his passengers on Seto's Kaiba Craft III during the semi-finals of Battle City, hoping to take one of the passenger's bodies, preferably Seto's. With the help of the Big Five and his father, Noah locks Seto and the others in his virtual world and duels with them for their bodies.

However, after the Big Five falter too many times, Noah eliminates them and takes on Seto himself by dueling him. However, this plan backfires when Seto gains the upper hand, and Noah thus uses Mokuba, who he has brainwashed, as a human shield to block Seto's attack. When Noah finally wins, an outraged Yami Yugi takes over for Seto and combines their decks to defeat Noah. With Gozaburo's role in the events revealed, Noah scatters the group to the parts of a virtual city and takes Mokuba's body for himself. Noah leaves the virtual world and attempts to blow up the computer mainframe with everyone else's minds connected to it, killing them all. At the very last minute, Noah remembers how Mokuba had called him brother and still loved him even after he tried to kill him and Seto. He redeems himself by reversing the plan, giving Mokuba back his body, getting everyone out of the virtual world to safety, and saving them from being blown up. However, he is unable to stop the explosion from occurring, and Noah's and Gozaburo's minds are destroyed.

He is voiced by Chisa Yokoyama in the Japanese version. He is voiced by Andrew Rannells in the American English dub.

Paradais

The organization was formed by Dartz after the fall of Atlantis in order to revive his monster the Leviathan that is defeated in the battle for Atlantis. Dartz and the members of the organization assist the evil and corrupt throughout history, gathering the souls of those oppressed by them using the powers of the Orichalcos in order to fuel the rebirth of the Leviathan.

While in Egypt, Dartz sees the Pharaoh Atem and his Egyptian God monsters battling Bakura and Diabound. Sensing the power of Atem and the God monsters, Dartz comes to the conclusion that Atem's soul will be more than strong enough to revive the Leviathan by itself. However, Dartz abstains from capturing Atem due to his battle with Bakura, and when the battle ends, Atem's soul has been sealed within the Millennium Puzzle.

However, Dartz is aware of a prophecy that Atem will be reincarnated, and he thus resolves to wait until that happens. Dartz is also aware of Atem's connection to the realm of Duel Monsters that had opposed him centuries before during the battle for Atlantis. During that battle, the Three Knights of Atlantis had defeated the Leviathan, and anticipating their return with Atem, Dartz begins searching for powerful duelists that might be able to defeat the Knights.

In the present day, Dartz has formed the organization into a powerful multi-national corporation, although its exact role as a company is not established. However, the company is well known as a rich and powerful group with suspected ties to politics and rival companies, and also secretly manufactures its own version of Kaiba Corporation's Duel Disk, referred to as a Chaos Duel Disk in advertisements. When Atem is reincarnated into Yugi Muto, and he collects the Egyptian God Cards, Dartz then has his henchmen (known as the Three Swordsmen of Doma in the Japanese anime) steal the cards, baiting Yugi, the spirit of Atem inside him, as well as Seto Kaiba and Joey Wheeler (Katsuya Jonouchi), into a series of duels to gather their souls using the Orichalcos and revive the Leviathan.

Before the organization formed, a meteor known as the Orichalcos fell on Atlantis. The meteor led Atlantis into a technological golden age, but also corrupted its citizens and turned them evil. The shards of the meteor eventually corrupted Dartz, who became convinced that the Orichalcos revealed the true nature of its subjects, and the people of Atlantis only became evil because they were truly evil. Dartz thus resolved to destroy humanity and rebuild the world using pure-hearted humans that the Orichalcos did not corrupt. This led into a battle between Dartz, the Leviathan and the Orichalcos Soldiers against his father Ironheart, his daughter Kris, the spirits of the Duel Monster realm, and the Three Knights of Atlantis. The Knights became sealed as Dragons, but were successful in destroying the Leviathan by the battle's end.

Using the power of the Orichalcos, Dartz began to steal souls to revive the Leviathan. The shards of the meteor are shown as glowing green stones that bestow various powers upon their holders: Dartz himself displays telepathy, telekinesis, and other psychic powers while under the stone's influence, as well as near-immortality. The main way in which the stone's powers manifest, however, is in the form of the Spell card The Seal of Orichalcos.

The Seal of Orichalcos is the trademark card of the members of the Paradias Organization, shown in one scene in the anime to be formed from shards of the Orichalcos meteor, also known as the Orichalcos Stone. The card is played as a Field Spell, casting a symmetrical six-pointed star around the dueling field with a ring of mysterious text surrounding it. As a spell card, the card increases the ATK of all monsters owned by its controller by 500, as well as allowing the controller to play monster cards in their Spell and Trap slots, effectively doubling the number of monsters they can play. The card is also immune to destruction by normal card effects. The Seal also exists as the cards Orichalcos Deuteros and Orichalcos Tritos, adding a second and third layer of text outside the seal. These cards are only used by Dartz.

Beyond its effect on the duel, the card also influences the physical world. The seal creates a magical barrier around it, preventing anyone outside from entering the duel, or anyone in the duel from leaving. The Seal of Orichalcos also appears on the duelist's forehead, tinting their eyes red and affecting their personality. Under the effects of the Orichalcos, duelists become increasingly more aggressive and brutal in their dueling tactics; in the cases of Rafael and Atem, their personalities completely change from calm and focused to cruel and harsh. When a duelist loses the duel, the seal shrinks around them and takes their soul, sending it to Dartz's temple near the ruins of Atlantis.

The name of the Orichalcos is based on the mineral orichalcum, a mineral that, according to Plato and the Critias dialogue, was the source of Atlantis' wealth and power. However, orichalcum is described as red in color and is speculated to have been copper or gold, while the Orichalcos is consistently depicted as bright green. The design of the Seal of Orichalcos is based on the unicursal hexagram designed by Aleister Crowley, for which one of the members of the Paradias Organization is named. The text around the seal is Enochian, and translates to "Oreichalcos". Also, the power of the Orichalcos is negated in the presence of the three Knights of Atlantis: Timaeus, Critias, and Hermos.

Dartz

Dartz is the former King of Atlantis and the head of the organization. After being forced to kill his wife who had been turned into a monster by the orichalcos, Dartz was himself corrupted, turning his right eye green. Dartz led the forces of the Orichalcos against his father, daughter and the forces of the Dominion of the Beasts, but was defeated. Dartz then spent the next ten thousand years collecting souls to revive the Leviathan, which he felt could be easily revived using the soul of Pharaoh Atem.

After having his henchmen steal the Egyptian God cards, Dartz has them duel the three duelists chosen to wield the powers of the Knights of Atlantis against him. After their initial failures, Dartz summons an army of Orichalcos Soldiers to steal souls from around the world in a final effort to acquire the energy he needs. When finally confronted by Atem and Seto Kaiba at his temple, Dartz duels them, but is defeated by Atem using the powers of all three of the Knights of Atlantis. However, upon having his soul taken, Dartz's own soul is enough to revive the Leviathan. After a battle between the Leviathan and the forces of the Duel Monster realm, it is killed again and Dartz is released from the influence of the orichalcos, going peacefully to the afterlife with his father and daughter.

Dartz uses an Orichalcos deck, focusing on the Seal of Orichalcos and strengthening it using Orichalcos Deuteros and Orichalcos Tritos. His key monster, Orichalcos Kyutora, absorbs battle damage and transforms into Orichalcos Shuneros, a monster based on the dogū which has ATK equal to the damage that Kyutora absorbs, allowing it to become stronger the longer Kyutora is on the field. Besides this, Dartz's offense is provided by Mirror Knight Calling and the Mirror Knight Tokens it summons, who have power equal to the power of the monster they battle and are immune to destruction, allowing them to destroy any monster, no matter how powerful.

He is voiced in the English version by Wayne Grayson and in the Japanese original by Yuu Emaou.

Alister

Alister (known as Amelda in the Japanese anime) is Dartz's third henchman. Alister lived in a town in the middle of a war as a child, leading a resistance group with his brother after their parents disappear. When his brother is lost during an attack on the town, Alister blames Kaiba Corporation, who financed the weapons in that attack. (In the Japanese version, both his parents and brother were killed.) In reality, the weapons were funded by Dartz. To this end, Alister targets Seto Kaiba, but when Alister learns of his bond with his own brother Mokuba, he becomes more sympathetic and willingly loses the duel to ensure Mokuba will not have to bear losing his brother as he did. Kaiba, also understanding Alister's grudge towards him now, carries his body to safety after the duel, and Alister is restored when Dartz is defeated.

Alister uses a Toon deck while pretending to be Maximillion Pegasus, relying on the Toon monsters and exploiting their various powers such as direct attacks. When revealed, Alister changes to a Pyro deck relying on Gorlag and its power to revive the monsters it destroys. In his second duel, he uses an Army deck of Machine monsters like KC-1 Krayton and Spell Canceler, highlighted by Air Fortress Ziggurat and the Toy Robot Tokens it spawns, both of which are based on an action figure his brother owned.

Raphael

Rafael is the strongest of Dartz's henchmen and is the duelist meant to defeat Atem and Yugi Mutou. Rafael once had a family that was killed while on an ocean cruise, leaving him stranded on an island (in the English version, the family was still alive, but have completely forgotten about him). With only his dueling deck to keep him company, Rafael developed a deep bond with them before he was rescued. Bitter at the world, which he now saw as evil and corrupted, Rafael willingly turned to Dartz and joined the organization with the promise of cleansing the world of darkness. Rafael later discovered that Dartz was the captain of the cruise the night his family was killed, and willingly sailed into the storm that wrecked their ship in order to orchestrate Rafael's turn to evil. Rafael is the only duelist to lose a duel without losing his soul to the orichalcos, being able to purify his heart of its influence during the duel and free himself of its hold on him. After confronting Dartz about what he has learned about the orichalcos' powers, he falls victim to him and loses his soul, but is restored when Dartz is defeated.

Rafael uses a Guardian deck, relying on monsters that can only be summoned by having an appropriate Equip card on the field. Because of his bond with them, Rafael cannot bear to have his monsters destroyed and thus utilizes several cards to protect them, often at the cost of his own well-being. His main monster, Guardian Eatos, can be summoned without Tribute with no monsters in his Graveyard, and gains power the more monsters there are in the opponent's Graveyard. Under the dark influence of the orichalcos however, Rafael plays Guardian Dreadscythe, an evil incarnation of Eatos that grows in strength the more monsters Rafael sends to the Graveyard, leading to him sacrificing all of them due to the orichalcos tainting his judgment.

Valon

Valon is Dartz's second henchman. Abandoned at a young age, Valon was cared for by a nun at a church and protected her from a local street gang. However, when the nun was killed in a fire and the church burned down, Valon assaulted the gang and was sent to juvenile prison. While there, the headmaster taught him how to duel and had him take the souls of the other inmates. Afterwards, Dartz recruited Valon into his service. What Valon was not told was that the headmaster worked for Dartz, and Dartz was the one who set the fire that killed the nun. The story of the nun and the street gang is cut from the English anime, and Valon's story of being in prison is mentioned to be caused by his penchant for street fights which Dartz had framed him for.

Valon develops feelings for Mai Valentine (Mai Kujaku in the Japanese version) when she joins the organization, thus making his grudge with Joey Wheeler (Katsuya Jounouchi in the Japanese version of the anime), who Mai loved, a personal one. Mai does not return his feelings and tells him that Joey is to be her opponent, not his. After dueling and losing to Joey, Valon has his soul taken, but his body is recovered by Rafael and taken to safety, and he is restored when Dartz is defeated.

Valon uses an Armor deck, relying on monsters that attach to him as physical pieces of futuristic armor. Although they have limited physical strength, when combined their special abilities gives the appearance of a single, high-powered monster with powers such as immunity to destruction, destroying monsters, and inflicting direct damage. Valon summons his Armor pieces en masse using various Armor Gravitation cards, making the Seal of Orichalcos pivotal to his strategy by allowing him to summon more pieces than normal.

Aaron (Juan in the Japanese version) is a boy who plays chess with Seto Kaiba.

Chris

Chris (クリス Kurisu) was Dartz' daughter and Ironheart's granddaughter when Dartz ruled Atlantis 10,000 years ago.

Ironheart

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 2nd series anime (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters)

Ironheart (アイアンハート Aianhāto) was the father of Dartz when he ruled Atlantis 10,000 years ago.

Mikey

Japanese name: Milko
English anime name: Mikey
Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! 2nd series anime (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters)

Milko (ミルコ Miruko), or Mikey, is the younger brother of Alister (Amelda in the original Japanese). In the original Japanese, Milko is killed when a tank he boarded was blown up. In the English anime, Mikey was captured. In the original Japanese, this serves as the basis of Amelda's quest to avenge his brother. In the English anime, his capture serves as the basis of Alister's quest to get him back.

Jean-Claude Magnum

Jean Claude Magnum is a famous movie star in several action-films. He duels Mai on a cruise and loses, and asks her to marry him afterwards. Disgusted with his loss, Mai rejects him until he can defeat her in a duel. He thus trains and returned in Battle City, but still loses to Mai. After a failed attempt to kidnap her, Mai rejects him once again. Katsuya Jounouchi was originally a fan of his movies, but decides he isn't any more after meeting him in person. His name is a play on action star Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Magnum plays a "Ninja Swarm" deck of low-level Ninja monsters that special summon others to the field, opting to overwhelming opponents with sheer numbers rather than brute strength. Presumably his deck includes "Gravity Bind" since he has so many low level monsters.

Leon von Schroeder

Leon von Schroeder (known as Leonheart von Schroider in the Japanese version) is Zigfried von Schroeder's younger brother. While Siegfried ran Schroeder Corporation, Leon took up Duel Monsters and dueled in several tournaments under aliases to avoid his family. When Zigfried found out, he entered Leon in the KC Grand Championship alongside himself as a back-up if he should be discovered. After Siegfried is kicked out of the tournament and Leon duels Yugi Muto, Zigfried tricks him into playing Golden Castle of Stromberg, giving Leonhart an unfair advantage in the duel and releasing a computer virus into Kaiba Corporation's duel systems. Through the efforts of Kaiba and Yugi however, Leon is defeated and the virus is halted.

Leon uses a Fairy Tale deck of monsters like Red Riding Hood and Tom Thumb. His tactics are extremely balanced and diverse, ranging from powering up his monsters to special summoning multiple monsters at once.

Zigfried von Schroeder

Zigfried von Schroeder (known as Siegfried von Schroider in the Japanese version) is the CEO of Schroeder Corp, a long-time rival to the Kaiba family and Kaiba Corporation. When Zigfried and Seto Kaiba become heads of their respective family companies, both of them attempt to create holographic systems for Duel Monsters. Both succeed, with Zigfried's invention being the Holographic Duel Box Room System (Like the one featured in the manga), but Kaiba markets and patents his first, leaving Zigfried to fall into ruin. In the anime, Zigfried joins the KC Grand Championship to discredit Kaiba and claim revenge. Although Zigfried uses a variety of computer viruses to attempt to destroy Kaiba Corporation's computer systems, Kaiba is able to halt them all and expels Zigfried from the tournament.

Zigfried uses a Valkyrie deck based around Norse mythology. By combining his Goddess cards Urd, Verdande and Skuld with Nibelung's Ring, Zigfried is able to control what cards his opponent draws and destroy any monsters that might be used against him before they are summoned. His signature move is the Ride of the Valkyries card (named after the famous opera by Wagner) to summon his Valkyrie monster en masse for victory in a single unified strike.

Vivian Wong

Vivian Wong is a Chinese duelist with crushes on Yugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba. Entering the KC Grand Championship as a way of earning their respect, Wong loses to Rebecca Hawkins. She later kidnaps Yugi's grandfather and uses his back pain as a way to convince Yugi to duel her but is again defeated.

Wong uses a Martial Arts deck of monsters like Master Kyonshee and Kung-fu Nyan Nyan, highlighted by her strongest monster Dragon Lady.

Amane Bakura

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga (only mentioned)

Amane Bakura (獏良 天音 Bakura Amane) is Ryo Bakura's deceased younger sister whom Ryo is seen writing a letter to. She died in a traffic accident. The series does not state when she died.

Chopman

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga

The Chopman (チョップマン Choppuman) is a serial killer that is in one of the traps at KaibaLand. Chopman had earlier murdered ten Boy Scouts near Domino Park by chopping their bodies into unrecognizeable pieces. KaibaCorp later hired the Chopman.

Yugi, Jonouchi, Honda, and Anzu become living chess pieces on a chess board. When Jonouchi is captured, he and Johji are up against the Chopman. Jonouchi is handcuffed on a chain that has Chopman on the end, and he is trapped in the room by a locked door with bars. After Yugi's Millennium Puzzle gives him an idea, Jonouchi frees his hand from the handcuff and attaches it onto the door. Chopman opens the door on accident with his strength and knocks a candle over. He is set on fire when the candle falls into the pit of oil that Chopman is standing in. An actual Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG card exists called "The Chopman" but its appearance differs from that of the manga character.

A.D. Fujita

Assistant director Fujita (AD 藤田) is a boy hired by a director at ZTV to "stage school bullying". Fujita lures Yugi in front of cameras by telling him that he will see a famous movie star. Fujita hits him several times. Jonouchi rushes to the scene to stop him but Fujita stops at the request of the director, who later beats up Jonouchi.

Tomoya Hanasaki

Tomoya Hanasaki (花咲 友也 Hanasaki Tomoya) is a friend of Yugi's that is obsessed with American superhero comics, particularly "Zombire" (ゾンバイア), a Spawn parody. Hanasaki is beaten up by Sozoji after Hanasaki gives the tickets to Sozoji's ear-defeaning concert to Yugi. Dark Yugi later places a penalty game on Sozoji. In a later issue, Hanasaki dresses up as American Hero Zombire (The Greendale Zombire) when he is told that Yugi is in danger, but he finds that the men who told him that lured him into a trap; they want to ransom Hanasaki for his father's money. Hanasaki is saved by Dark Yugi. In the card game there is an actual card based on this character called "Zombyra the Dark" of course with name differences.

Goro Inogashira

Goro Inogashira (猪頭 吾郎 Inogashira Gorō) of class 3-D steals class 1-B's spot at the school carnival. Inogashira, whose class usually makes Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki for the festival, then places his giant grill in the center. The grill is used in a shadow game between Inogashira and Dark Yugi.

In the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime he is listed in Austin O'Brien's (Axel Brodie) database of Domino High School students as Gorou Inogasira.

Junky Scorpion store owner

The owner of a store called "Junky Scorpion" tries to con Jonouchi out of a pair of shoes he bought. The owner plays a shadow game with Dark Yugi relating to grabbing money out of a shoe, and ends up getting poisoned by one of his scorpions.

Johji

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga

Johji (ジョージ Jōji) is a baby that Honda takes to Kaiba's amusement park, KaibaLand. The baby, who is Honda's nephew, is an admirer of Seto Kaiba, is lecherous towards Anzu and other females, and spews curse words at times (he has an unusually well-developed vocabulary for someone with the appearance of an infant). Johji unintentionally helps Yugi and his friends while they play Kaiba's Death-T games at least twice. Johji calls Honda by his given name, Hiroto.

Mr. Crown

Mr. Crown is the father of Ryuji Otogi (Duke Devlin). When Crown was young, he was the appentice to Sugoroku Mutou (Solomon Muto). Crown challenged his master to a Shadow Game over the Millennium Puzzle and lost. 20 years later, Crown wants revenge on Sugoroku by forcing his son Ryuji go after Sugoroku's grandson Yugi Mutou (Yugi Muto).

Nezumi

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga

Nezumi (ネズミ) is a boy with buckteeth that uses a sob story about him getting hit by yo-yos in a robbery to lure Yugi and Jonouchi to Hirutani.

Nezumi tells Jonouchi that three gang members ambushed him, beat him, and stole his yo-yo. Out of anger, Jonouchi asks Nezumi to lead him to the gangsters. Yugi and Jonouchi travel to Hirutani's abandoned warehouse, where scores of gang members ambush the two boys. Nezumi runs away when Yugi and Jonouchi manage to defeat the gang members.

The Dungeon Dice Monsters name, Nibbles, stems from a gang member character in West Side Story named "Nibbles."

Old Man Dentures

"Old Man Dentures" (イレバージ Irebā-ji) is a nickname given to a cranky candy-store owner. Mokuba Kaiba bribes "Dentures" to set up Yugi to lose a game of Capsule Monster Chess by having the coin machine rigged. Yugi wins the game anyway.

Sozoji

Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga

Sozoji (騒象寺 Sōzōji) is a karaoke player who tries to get people to listen to his horrid singing. He makes Hanasaki buy his tickets. When Hanasaki sells them to Yugi, Sozoji beats him up for it. In revenge, Dark Yugi challenges him to a shadow game. When Sozoji loses, Yugi forces Sozoji to hear his own heartbeat at high volume.

Tsuruoka

Tsuruoka (鶴岡) is the guidance counselor of Domino High School. Tsuruoka reveals the low achievement test grades of Yugi, Jonouchi, and Honda to their peers as punishment for playing achievement test bingo while having low test scores. He then snatches Anzu's gift to Yugi (A pocket game called "Lovely Two"), citing that he cannot bring games to school. Even with Yugi's friends protesting, Tsuruoka comes close to stepping on it. Dark Yugi comes out and challenges him to a game. Tsuruoka decides to hide the pocket game and give Yugi and his friends sixty minutes to find the game in the school. If they found it in time, they get the game back. If they do not, they are expelled and the game is destroyed. With Anzu's game, Dark Yugi heads to the teacher's lounge. He uses it to prove that Tsuruoka was hiding it in his body. Jonouchi and Honda pull off Tsuruoka's wig, revealing the game with five seconds left until time would be up. Tsuruoka begs for Yugi and his friends not to reveal that he wears a wig.

ZTV Director

This director stages bullying so he could make money off of a false documentary. After paying Fujita to hit Yugi, the director is confronted by Dark Yugi. The director loses a shadow game involving dice and is forced to see nothing but mosaics.

ZTV Producer

DDM video game name: Game Show Producer
Appears in: Yu-Gi-Oh! manga

A corrupt executive of a television studio, this producer plans to rig the final contest of a "Get the Million", a game show, so that Jonouchi has no chance of winning ¥1,000,000 (About $10,000 U.S.) Dark Yugi shows up in the control room and spills red paint over the controls, so that "Mr. Producer" can't tell which button rigs the wheel. Jonouchi yells for the wheel to stop and he wins one million yen. Dark Yugi placed a penalty game on him that made him beg on camera, upsetting the audience. Jonouchi's check turns worthless when the television studio goes out of business.

Alex Brisbane

Dr. Alex Brisbane is a mysterious archaeologist who discovers a pyramid that is the gateway to the Capsule Monster world. discovers Yugi and his friends after their plane crash-lands in a forest.

Alexandra the Great

Alexandra the Great was an ancient Greek king. He is named after the actual king-Alexander the Great.

First movie only characters

Shōgo Aoyama

Shōgo Aoyama (青山翔吾 Aoyama Shōgo) appears in a 1999 Yu-Gi-Oh! movie based on Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh! series that has only been released in Japan. Shōgo, Yugi's neighbor, is Mokuba's age and has a Red Eyes Black Dragon in his Magic and Wizards (Duel Monsters) deck. He is too timid to pull a winning streak. Anzu, an employee at "Duel Monsters Center," (デュエル モンスター センター) in the film, knows Shōgo as he is a regular of the parlor.

Eiko Hisamura (Eiko Yamada) voiced him.

Second movie only characters

Anubis

Appears only in the second film, Anubis wants revenge on Yami Yugi (Known in the English manga as Dark Yugi) and awakens after Yugi Muto solves the Millennium Puzzle. Pharaoh Atem had defeated Anubis a long time ago, yet Anubis re-appears to face Yugi Muto. Anubis possesses the cards Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia, which can be merged into Theinen the Great Sphinx. In the Japanese version of the movie, Anubis wants revenge by using the King of Light (Kaiba) to defeat the King of Darkness (Dark Yugi) in order to revive Anubis, the King of Destruction and use Kaiba to become the new king and rule the world. He actually says die in the English version. Since he has never shown in the anime or seen in the Dawn Of The Duel arc, he is a non-canon character (Kazuki Takahashi designed Anubis, but never used him in the manga).

Slysheen

Appears in: Dark Duel Stories, Forbidden Memories, The Duelists of the Roses.

Slysheen is part of an alternate universe plot to what is told in the anime. In the history of the series in the video games, Slysheen was High Priest to Atem and led a rebellion with his apprentice Seto, forcing Atem to shatter the Millennium Puzzle and prevent Slysheen from gathering the Millennium Items. After Atem's memories are restored in Forbidden Memories, he returns to the past where Seto is now High Priest and Slysheen has become Pharaoh in his absence. Atem defeats Seto and Slysheen and is restored to the throne.

Slysheen also appears in Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses as Richard III of England. However, unlike the other characters who portray historical characters, the dialogue with the final boss of the game for the Yorkists implies that he is Slysheen himself in some way, as the final boss resembles Slysheen greatly and is angered "over his brother being awakened by the humans".

Paradox

Appears in: Dark Duel Stories, Forbidden Memories, The Duelists of the Roses, Reshef of Destruction.

Paradox (not to be confused with the Paradox Brothers) is a high-ranking sage and Atem's adviser in the alternate universe of the series (see above). After Slysheen attacks the palace, Paradox helps Atem to safety and later hides the pieces of the Millennium Puzzle from Slysheen. He acts as an ally to Atem when he returns. He is also the sage who summons the Rose Duelist in Duelists of the Roses, and in Reshef of Destruction, he is a high-ranked member of the order that guards the Millennium Items like Shadi and assists the protagonist with strengthening the Winged Dragon of Ra and finding Maximillion Pegasus' castle.
