Papillion Junior High is located at 423 South Washington Street in Papillion, Nebraska. Their mascot is the Titans. This junior high is the oldest school still being used today in the Papillion La Vista School District. The school has no tornado shelters.
History
On
February 17,
1966 the original Papillion School, built in 1893, was razed to make room for the new junior high school, which was opened in 1967. Nine years later a new junior high was built in neighboring
La Vista to help ease crowding at the current school. Before a new high school was open, these two junior highs both enrolled ninth grader students. Currently ninth graders attend both high schools. The school's original boundary was
Papio Creek; today it is the city limits.
Athletics
The Papillion Junior High is known well for their sports. They have
football,
basketball,
wrestling,
cross country,
track, and
volleyball. The football team is divided by black, silver, and blue teams, and play on their home field, which is surrounded by a track and is a natural grass surface. The basketball team is divided this way, too, except they are "A", "B", and "C" teams. These three teams share 2 courts. Overall, the Titans have many rivals, including the Fremont Tigers, La Vista Monarchs, Ralston Rams, Westside Warriors, Lewis and Clark Scouts, Mission Braves, and the Wilson Yellow Jackets.
