Dame Ruth Nita Barrow, GCMG (November 15 1916December 19 1995) was a nurse and humanitarian activist from Barbados. She served as governor-general of Barbados from 1990 until her death in 1995. She was the older sister of politician Errol Barrow. She is a Graduate of the University of Toronto.

Dame Nita Barrow served as president of the World YWCA from 1975-1983.

Dame Nita Barrow was an engaging and outspoken advocate for social justice at an international level, traveling extensively to the interiors of continents, reaching everyone at a grass roots level. Dame Nita--the adult educator/diplomat--remained convinced that neither ideas nor action can be beneficial if separated from the other.
