NC 119

North Carolina Highway 103

NC 103 is an eight-and-a-half-mile North Carolina State Highway. It runs entirely in Surry County. Its main purpose is to connect the northern end of Surry with Mount Airy.

Western Terminus

The western terminus is at NC 89/US 52 Business in downtown Mount Airy. This is next door to the Mount Airy Visitor Center.

Eastern Terminus

NC 103 barely gets away from the outskirts of Mount Airy, before crossing over into Virginia. NC 103 continues into Virginia as State Route 103, near Claudville. By now, NC 103 is truly in rural countryside.

Historical NC 103

The first N.C. 103 was today's NC 119, running mostly in Alamance and Caswell counties. It was decommissioned in 1940 and the current 103 was formed.

This was a result of Virginia's renumbering: NC 103 would supplement VA 103. There have been no other major changes made.
