It opened on the July 1886. Famous actors who have starred at the theatre befor entering film include Osvald Helmuth, Buster Larsen, Poul Reichhardt and Poul Bundgaard.

Its director is the 29 years old Jonatan Spang, which is famous in Denmark for his stand-up shows.

In 1956 the theatre produced Det ny Scala.
